What are your opinions about drilling for oil in the Alaskain Wildlife Refuge? I don't know a lot about what it will actually do for us. I heard something crazy like thousands of barrells of oil a day. Personally, I find it outrageous that they would even consider it. I would much rather pay my extra 20 cents per gallon than see us drilling in a refuge. True, it will make us not dependant on international oil, but so what. That refuge is there to protect the wildlife and environment. It doesn't give people the right to drill for oil because they're mad about rising gas prices. That's just my personal opinion. I just want to know what you think about it.

I don't think drilling will produce a significant decrease in gas prices. First of all it'll take a lot of time to install all of the pipes and bargs to even begin drilling. Second, it's going to cost millions to erect these structures. The oil companies certainly aren't going to pay for this cost. It will be filtered back to everyone buying gas. It may be years before we see oil come out of that place. And as it was said, labor for this will probably run significantly higher than overseas. If everyone is so intent on getting out of the middle east oil trade, they need to find a new spot, and not a wildlife refuge. Russia is filled with oil. There is more oil over there now than perhaps anywhere else in the world. Sure, a lot of things are being destroyed nowadays, but at some point we need to make a stand and defend against destroying a piece of our own nation. Americans want a quick fix for rising gas prices and it simply will not happen, whether we drill or not. I'm not a politically or enviromentally active person by any means, but this proposal fumes me everytime I read it.
