What performance mods will it take me in my 96 5spd celica st to beat my brother's 2004 40th aniversary 4spd automatic v6 mustang. He has 190 HP SAE @ 5,250 rpm; 220 ft lb , 298 Nm @ 2,750 rpm, and has a curv weight of 3,114 lbs. I know it'll take a good ammount from the tuning aspect, but is there ne way around the turbo? Or to be faster than him I'll need to get a T-3 or ct-26? Thanks guys

In order to outrun a newer Mustang V6 you'll need to put out about 170-180hp and similar torque, Mustangs are boats but they do all right in a straight line. I have a modded GT and I can only beat the older V6's, newer it's a little bit different. In your case since you came for answers heres a few options:
7AFTE...best choice 4AGZE swap...second best N/A mods: CAI full exhaust and header shave about 100-150lbs. port, polish, valve job small shot (25) of nitrous Those should be enough to keep up or beat a newer V6, if he ever gets a 2005 or newer you might as well go turbo. |
