Is the 5S block aluminum or iron, I was thinking that it was aluminum for the 6th gen and the avalon? Could a mod edit the title for searching reasons I rushed to type it in, thanks.

Why does everybody complain about the 5S, I know the head can be an issue, but nothing that some head work couldn't fix, unless it's like the Chevy Vortec head, they use a valve seal to keep oil from leaking into the combustion chamber, the only problem is the seal was to large and the valve was limited to the amount it could open, I think .430 of lift compared to .500 on the other stock V8s. If you remove the seal then you could run a higher profile cam and not worry about the seal.
