First of all, do you know that the stock receiver was sending an amplified signal to the stock amp? Maybe you do know, but I don't. Even if the stock receiver puts out a certain amount of power, that doesn't mean that the signal sent to the amp is speaker-level. I don't know how Toyota (or who makes their stereos) configured the outputs on their decks.
Second, by using the pre-outs on your new receiver, you are sending an unamplified signal to the factory amp and it will NOT be amplified twice. The point of using the pre-outs is to send as clean a signal as possible and then let the amp do its thing. Regardless of what set-up you use, I'm interested to know how it turns out, so keep me posted. |
