hey, i found out what was wrong with my braking system. i need to replace the shoes on both rear drums. can anyone tell me everything i need to know to change the shoes(pads)? do i have to take the drum off the car? how do i do this? and how do i change the shoes? step by step descriptive instructions asap would be nice. thanks a lot!

1)remove the back wheels

2)pry the drums off
some times there is a philps screw holding the drum on.. some times not..

3) inspect the drum.. and see if there is a ledge on the inside of the drum.. replace or get the drum turned if needed. ( caution do not inhale the brake dust!!)

4) remove the springs at the bottom of the brake system and this should release the drum pads

5) remove this screw device at the bottom of the system. its like this extender thing; You need to retract it together. you should be able to tell what this is. Its the only thing that has threads on both sides and a knotched quarter thing at the center..

6) install new pads and springs..

7) install drum and repeat what you did on the other side of the car

8) after both the drums have been changed.. stomp on the brakes several times so the drums can adjust it self to the new pads.

I would be carefull about changing drum pads. they are not easy to do and require some skill.
