I went to that eastonchang website, and I couldn't find any info on this thing. I might do a swap of some sort in the Celica one day. I'd be more likely to do the 2JZ-GTE swap. But I'm still really interested in how the drive train and everything goes together on this thing.

QUOTE(Bigmeanbulldog55 @ May 24, 2005 - 10:25 PM) I went to that eastonchang website, and I couldn't find any info on this thing. I might do a swap of some sort in the Celica one day. I'd be more likely to do the 2JZ-GTE swap. But I'm still really interested in how the drive train and everything goes together on this thing. The Supra motor is a good swap, I considered that before I planned the 3S RWD swap and it's too much fab work for me. I do know it can be done "legally" safety wise as long as you swap the firewall from the Supra in it whcih will require some minor mods to the A/C duct work and some other dash parts (you'll need to cut about 2 inches off each side), the 2JZ is about 8" longer than the 3S and there isn't enough room in the engine bay to fit it and the radiator. I know the 3S only provides about 5" worth of clearance in the front in a RWD set-up, but it also requires about 4 inches in the rear due to the radiator hose and distributor. I ruled out the 2JZ mostly because I can extract 2JZ power form the 3S and save weight and space. The drivetrain on that guys Celica is probably a Supra drivetrain with GT-Four suspension parts since the Getrag doesn't require as much space as the Tundra transmission does, he probably just cut a 6"-10" relief for the bellhousing and since the shifter is on the rear of the transmission fitment isn't a difficult job, with my research the Getrag attached to a 3S will sit just perfectly in the engine bay and transmission bay with very little fab work involved. If you want to go for it cool deal, I will tell you this a new Getrag will run about $6,000 from Toyota without the required parts to make it wok, a used with all the parts from suprastore.com will cost about $5,000 and will almost always require a rebuild so you save a few hundred in the end. The rear end with a TRD LSD is about $2,500 and the driveshaft is obviously custom since the Supras is about 3" longer and the GT-Four's is too short. If you need some more info just PM me. |
