QUOTE(pr_caralho @ May 28, 2005 - 9:04 AM) the only awd american car i can think of is the ford 500 and yes audi was the first company to put awd in their cars, (audi quattro) Chrysler 300 is also AWD. As was the Eagle Talon, Dodge Stealth (those are really Mitsu's). If I remember the Focus is AWD in Europe using the Volvo chassis. Audi I believe is the first to use AWD dubbed Quattro for rally racing. Almost all manu's made fun of Audi for adding so much 'unneeded weight' but dropped their jaws when Audi killed them by alot of time. AWD Jap cars - jeez Nissan Skyline/Infinity G35 Celica GT4 and Curren Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO and Eclipse/Talon/Laser triplets. Mitsubishi Evo series Subaru's whole damn lineup Mazda's Mazdaspeed6 just to name a few Turbos are really old. They made them back in the 1800's. They were used for big engines like marine ships and airplanes. They were first used on big trucks in the 20's and 30's and finally the first company to use turbos in a passenger car is General Motors with the Corvair Monza and the Olds Jetfire. Both sucked and were taken off the market pretty quick. Then it was gas crunch, and then they brought them back for diesel engines. The first car with variable valve timing was the NSX in 1991. As for VVT for domestics - GM just started this year with the Buick LaCrosse I know Ford has it on the 2004 F-150, but I think it also did the 2.0L Zetec Focus engine, but to my knowledge its only on the exhaust side. Well there ya go, thats all my knowledge. -Ti |
