as a few of you know, I have no clue when it comes to distributorless ignition. I can do distributors (all I have ever worked with) but the distributorless thing.... I couldn't find the answers I was looking for in my research.
SO, with that said: Lets say I have a Stock 7afe and I want to convert it over to distributorless ignition (which would be useless for the most part, but this is for the sake of understanding the process.) What would I do, and what would I need? Any comments would be great. Jon |

You'll need a computer that understands DIS (direct ignition system) input/output and the different trigger set-ups. After that, you'll need the actual triggering system, be it a crank sensor, VR sensor and toothed wheel, Flywheel sensor, cam sensor, etc... but some sort of sensor that can read the engine's position. Then you'll need to mess with piles of wires...
Some are easier than others... but it's pointless to do DIS ONLY. The only time DIS is useful, is if you have a way of tuning ignition advance/retard... which can make a bit of power... Megasquirt'n'EDIS is proving itself to be quite simple (I'll make a post about my AE86 20V sooner or later)... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
