I have a 95 GT 5 speed. When I start off in 1st gear and the rpm's are pretty low I hear a clank/clunking for a couple seconds up front most of the time when I start off, also sometimes at low rpm's in 2nd gear around a corner. Its a pretty nasty sound that I don't like, it hasn't been happening that long so I don't really get it. I figured it was something with the motor mounts so I replaced the one under the intake on the drivers side as well as the rear one, still having that problem. The front mount looks just fine, so I have no idea. I dunno what else you might need for info without driving the car, but im stumped and I hate hearing this sound. Thanks.

If you lived near me, I'd take you to Toyota(they diagnose me for free because I've been going there for 5 years now).
It does sound like a motor mount though. Even though the front mount 'looks' fine, it could still be worn enough to allow more play than it should. Taking your car to the dealer for a diagnoses should cost less than $50(cheaper than a new mount, they charge $37 here) and they can tell you exactly what's wrong. |
