Since my trunk was pried up, it doesn't close correctly now. I bent back the trunk lid metal a bit, and pulled the trunk seal off, and I can't figure out why the trunk lid won't close completely.

The trunk closes and latches, but it latches in a position that's way higher than it should and will not go down further. The trunk release lever no longer pops open the trunk, but the key will open the trunk. Also, when the trunk is latched, it will move up just a bit if you pull up on it, but only a little bit and then something catches and keeps the trunk closed unless you use the key to open it.

Anyone have any idea as to what might be happening? I think the prybar or whatever the thieves used may have pushed down the area by the latch too much.

Here's some pics:

i know this has nothing 2 do with the topic, but you have 1) a very nice camera and 2) very good photo skills, if u dont mind, PM me with the type of camera you use, i might be interested in buying one for myself.

I've got a Nikon D70 with three lenses and an Olympus C4000Z.

nice

anyway, check the piece that is connected to the trunk itself. Maybe that is bent and needs to be tapped back in(it might look like a V instead of a U).

An easy fix might be to drill new holes for the latch assembly to lower it confused.gif

the cable not opening it probably just need to be connected to the lever again. I just looked through my pics, I don't have one of my latch that would help, the only one I have is here

The little bar that is attached to the trunk lid is still shaped correctly.

The drilling lower holes solution doesn't seem like it'd work, as I doubt it'd eliminate the play when the trunk is latched.

And actually, the cable does indeed open the trunk. My brother just wasn't opening the trunk correctly the first time we tried it.

And the hatchback latch setup is very different...I was looking at my purple Celi's latch setup earlier hoping to use some parts.

I'm pretty convinced that my latch is messed up, and the trunk metal is bent a little bit...I'm hoping I can find a new latch soon.
