is it a good idea to swap my tranny to a mr2-t (since I must change my tranny anyway for a swap) an keeping my 5sfe then saving for a 3rd gen 3sgte? or that tranny are no no with 5sfe? also, if i decide to get a 2rd gen 3s, will the tranny still be compatible?

ok...the mr2-t tranny is gonna be a very difficult install...its coming out a rwd car so you have to turn it around and get new half shalfts, linkages, and i think reweld one of the mounts on the tranny to a different location...personally if i was doing the 3s swap i would use the 5sfe tranny...its bolt ups just fine and i havent heard of any failing yet under the power of the 3s...as for using the mr2-t..dont put it in now unless ur 5s tranny is dead because its gonna be a definate hassal fitting it into your car..the 5s should bolt up though considering it is an s series transmission and engine combination...so if you plan on using the mr2-t wait till u get the 3s and do it all at once

If you have a clip you just use the linkage and stuff from the awd tranny. You don't weld any mounts on to the transmission either.

Not true, it depends on the power you are shooting for. I've talked to XAT and the guy who is going to be doing my swap and both have told me that that 5s tranny is only good to around 250 hp. Also there are people on here who have replaced the 5s because it has failed.

You are right about not swaping the tranny unless your 5s tranny is going out, it is pointless and will be just as much a hassle as swaping the motor, so why not wait.
