Why is it that the time it takes for the engine to actually turn over (start) differs for each car? I'm sure there's probably a word for it; what I'm trying to describe is each attempt the starter makes at cranking the engine.

Most new cars start instantly (perhaps one try of the starter), and even some older honda's I've seen also seem to start on the first time. However, I can hear my celica starter go twice or three times before the engine starts.

Is this what the rest of you get too? What is it a function of?

Usually I have to pump some fuel and try to crank it once, then it starts on the second one.

My cold start injector time switch was cracked and repaired at one point.. can't help it any.. plus the battery isn't strong.

If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.
