QUOTE(Consynx @ Jun 28, 2005 - 9:54 AM) is 7psi pushing the enging near its end w/o modifying internals? that is a good amount of power. Yes and No. The QR25 is basically a SR20 with some differences. They both have the similar bore (89mm QR, 86mm SR), but the QR has a much longer (HUGE 100mm vs 86mm SR) stroke giving it the extra .5 liters. The rod journals are smaller and the big difference is the small redline at 6200. The 6200 redline isn't the strokes fault though. Its the valve springs believe it or not. (SO I HEAR) If you replace valves springs with JWT or likewise, you can easily get 6500 to 6700 out of the engine. Also, the only other big problem with the QR is the balance shaft. The balance shaft is a device placed to spin at twice the speed of the engine. The makes the 2.5L 4banger feel like a smooth six. However, its very limiting and robs lots of power. Most people say a increase of 7-8WHP is achieved from just removing it. As for boost, if the internals are left stock but the owner removes the balance shaft and updates valve springs, 10psi isn't that far away. A good tuning with a SAFC, I wouldn't see 300WHP being too far off. The SpecV is imo great. The is only one N/A car that scares it, all others are scared of it. The RSX-S is the only car that out performes the SpecV in 4-cyl power without going turbo. And you have to spend 5 grand more on the Acura. And the acura is literally maxed out in terms of power. The QR is Nissan's new baby. The SR20 is gone and aftermarket support is growing rapidly fast for the QR. Oh, it got a sweet 6spd tranny... really sweet.... if you dont have to see me go in reverse. ![]() -Ti |
