How to install muffler, Pics included Options

Hi.

Bought a 97' Celica a couple of months ago and decided to get among other things, a muffler. Found a A'PEXi N1 on ebay and bought it. But when it arrived I realized many things I didn't think of when buying it in the first place (I know, I know.. not very smart)


Problem 1

I thought I just had to remove the old cat and insert the muffler there but the pipe from the cat doesn't go straight forward (see picture). Can I just cut of the pipe near the cat and put the muffler in there?


Problem 2

As you also can see from the picture, there is three mounts. If anyone has installed a straight muffler like this, how did you do that?

Dang. Aren't there any other ways?

Why can't I cut the pipe before the cat and use a clamp?
Would still have to make some sort of mounts...

There aren't any muffler shops around here.

sure you can cut the pipe and use a clamp but down the line your going to have exhaust leaks and maybe some rattling. best way to do it is weld it on.
