![]() What is this little "box" on my intake? I can only imagine it's some sort of silencer or something.. To keep the sound from the intake down.. Then again, I'm mechanicly impaired (spelling?) and don't know crap about engines. -------------------- ![]() |

The 5SFE actually has two resonators, a large one in the fender and a small kidney-shaped on near the air filter box.
One of the reasons people put on short-rams is to get noise -- it doesn't increase performance on our engines, since the stock CAI aren't that badly designed. Pulling off a resonator will smooth airflow but increase noise. |

On a stock car (89'-ish Corolla 1.6 litre).. I was shouting BS but he just wouldn't listen. He even claimed that he had dyno sheets as proof.
