NASA's budget has already been drastically cut. But saying its a waste well thats a bit extreme to me. If there werent people looking at stuff that others considered a waste we wouldnt have the medicine or knowledge that we do today. Humanity is curious, we want to know, we strive to know and exploring is something I whole-heartedly support because in 100, 200 years who knows the earth could go into major change and inadequate to live with and I think in that amount of time people will be able to visit the moon and live there.

You gotta go out on a limb to learn new things, hell people in 1600's thought the world was flat and there was nothing to the west and many many people probably called Columbus an idiot and wasted his time exploring but look where it got the world. Humanity has advanced to much so quickly in just the last 200 years that the next 200 will have just the same leaps and bounds in technology and discovery.
