I was out test driving cars again the other day and I ran into a 1.8 turbo Gti. I like this car a lot. Very simple but nice styling. And it was pretty fast too. Come with 180hp. I figure 300hp wouldn't be to hard to get. I was just wondering what people have heard about this car. And does anyone know if the 2.8vr6 is a better option? I'm liking the lightweight 1.8 turbo. Just curious.

i know the stock turbo is pretty damn small.

They said the small turbo is for quick spoolling, which would work fine I think. I'm more interested in an all over fast car, not a drag car. I'm just hoping they come out with an AWD turbo soon. If not, I'll just half to get the R32.

1.8L Turbo 20V... that alone strikes the "cool" factor with me.  Let me also say... the engine is almost the same thing as they use in the older Audi TT...

I like them...

It seems to me that with a 20v head, you could have some real tunability there. I'm not sure how tunable they are, but that's the biggest factor in buying one for me. I'm taking batman's advice and I'm going to read as much as I can about them. I like them a lot for the fact that they're so simple looking, and kind of boxy. But the interiors on those things are just beautiful. Thanks for all the advice guys, keep it coming if you have more.

Engines all work on the same principle... so all engines are "tuneable"... one not more so than the other. It's all about how much $$ you have to build them. 20V head = LOTS of intake valve surface = VERY efficient power under boost...
