I have a 400W Rockford Fosgate amp and from time to time it will get extremely hot. I have the amp mounted on the back of my box and when the back seats are up there isn't much ventilation area. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to keep the amp a little cooler when the back seats are up.

I think if you put your seats down wouldn't that ruin the effect of the sub? Isn't the sub pushing air in the trunk, its acting like a sealed enclosure? Thus if you put the seats down and say your window was open, your bass would take a serious hit? Just a theory, guess I could try it tonight to prove it.
Also I had my amp mounted on the opposite side of wear the jack is, the only problem is I'm not sure if that moutng location picks up alternator noise due to the antenna being mounted on the same side. I have to keep the gain down not to get alternator whine. But it is a great location and my kicker amp gets warm but never hot. Not a big fan of mouting an amp to a sub box. |
