Yet another Climate Control Color thread..., What is the best combination? Options

Ok guys, I know there's a million threads about this I've searched and read things about this and the clock and everything all day long. What is the best method to make the climate control unit and the selector lights turn blue? I've seen painting, drilling out the bulb holes for LEDs, complete new wiring of LEDs independent of the system, etc etc. Which one works the best and looks the best? If painting it is going to look the same as drilling and changing the bulbs and all that then I'll just paint it.

Otherwise I think the only way for the smaller selection LEDs on the buttons is to just change all the 3mm LED's, but I might try using some glass paint on the buttons first.

And if anyone has pics of the final product to compare how each works that would be amazing, that's been the hardest thing for me to find.

The climate control was a bit difficult. The 5mm LEDs had to be modified to fit were the original rectangular shaped LEDs were. All of the bulbs were scrapped and more modified 5mm LEDs were used to backlight each button. Those LEDs all had to have resistors soldered to them and then I soldered the leads to the contacts for one of the original bulbs. Since 3mm LEDs are now readily available I'd say just buy them instead of filing the 5mm ones down to a recatangular shape. In order to keep the backlighting LEDs in place I just glued them to the bottom portion of the black "light tunnel" that goes over the indicator LEDs. I'll have to draw something or take pictures to explain exactly what I did but It turned out exactly how I wanted.

For the clock there is a how-to on here somewhere. After I removed the brown "filter" I just used some blue and purple filters to make it look blue. If your light doesn't have a green tint to it when you take out the brown filter all you will need is the blue filters.

Wow, sounds like an undertaking, but you did a damn fine job with yours. Lol, any chance I can mail you a A/C panel to mod for me!!!
