From what I heard is that you need to use some kind of race fuel to keep your car bumpin for awhile or you can use premium gas and have it run like **** and die sooner. I never knew that until I talked to a few people. Think it should be posted with the swap info?

Why wouldnt you want to get the best performance possible by using 91 or 93 octane instead of the lower grades? Even the owners manual says to run premium fuel for best performance, (at least in the GT-same reasons apply to an ST). You'll spend a few $$ a year extra, but so what? an extra $1.50 or so per tank isnt all that steep. I have to question someone who would spend $500+ for an exhaust system to try to gain a few HP, then run the cheapest fuel they can get. remember, the computer is retarding your timing when it senses detonation, as in when accelerating hard, so higher octane= more timing advance left in= better perf... (and I've seen whats left of pistons after a little too much detonation. I'm not going there) |
