Okay, well I have a 94 Celi and I asked my parents to see the title of my car. I'm in Florida, but this applies to many states in the U.S. If your car is 10 model years old or older, it should read "EXEMPT" in the odometer section. I was just curious because my friend told me about this. He was going to buy a used car and refused to buy it because it said exempt and he didn't know if the miles the odometer read was correct. Then I told him that mine said that too and I checked online to see if there was something wrong on my title and I found that it's normal for it to say that since my car is more than 10 years old. I was just hoping someone could explain to me why this says exempt if it's more than 10 years old. Thanks.

yeah, I think it's just that when this rule was dreamt up that most cars didn't live past 10 years so they just exempted it. It's just law I guess, there's lots of silly ones out there.
