Yet another Climate Control Color thread..., What is the best combination? Options

Ok guys, I know there's a million threads about this I've searched and read things about this and the clock and everything all day long. What is the best method to make the climate control unit and the selector lights turn blue? I've seen painting, drilling out the bulb holes for LEDs, complete new wiring of LEDs independent of the system, etc etc. Which one works the best and looks the best? If painting it is going to look the same as drilling and changing the bulbs and all that then I'll just paint it.

Otherwise I think the only way for the smaller selection LEDs on the buttons is to just change all the 3mm LED's, but I might try using some glass paint on the buttons first.

And if anyone has pics of the final product to compare how each works that would be amazing, that's been the hardest thing for me to find.

ok, after studying this a few hours yesterday, this is what i came up with.

I need
--3 #194 inverted LED's for the guage cluster, these are just "plug and play" replacement LED's, right?
--1 #74 LED for keyring, a small modification to fit.
--1 #74 LED for cigarette lighter, a small mod to fit.
--a few 3mm LED's for the buttons on the climate control, solder onto original contacts
--3 5mm LED's for the background light on the climate control, solder onto original contacts
--a  3 mm LED for the power window switch
--and finally replace the filter on the clock from the brown one to a blue.

which is better the #194 matrix LED's or the inverted ones?
what "Axial Luminous Itensity" should the different LED's have

have i missed anything or do you have any other ideas?

sorry if this has been brought up a hundered times before, but i have seen so many different solutions and i'd like to get this right since i have to order the LED's from the states
