From what I heard is that you need to use some kind of race fuel to keep your car bumpin for awhile or you can use premium gas and have it run like **** and die sooner. I never knew that until I talked to a few people. Think it should be posted with the swap info?

there's really no point to using it. it's just that people are under the impression that because high performance cars used high octane, that it was the gas that was contributing to that performance (partially). That's true and it's not... those engines require the gas to be under more compression without pre-detonation (ping, knock), so require a higher octane rating. your engine doesn't. you could get the same effect of higher octane by running water injection - that's all the water really is in a system like that - an octane booster. i don't think it would be detrimental to your engine over time, but it's not adding anything for you and you could even be losing a little HP because the 93 is taking slightly more time to burn in your lower compression environment (negligible, however). - aba |
