Can you paint an intercooler without affecting the functionality of it?

I put a grill in front of mine, aluminum, to keep some bugs and rocks out of it, and it just looked funny - too much silver.
so, i painted my grill... -------------------- If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.
