Hi,

I've haven't been on this forum for a really long time but I am in need for some help or suggestions if possible.

Do you know what could cause my cars clock and radio to stay on when the car is turned off? The key is taken out of the ignition as well.

It happened today once I got my car back from the shop. The shop was only doing some engine work and when I called them they said they never touched any cables besides the cables that were attached to the battery as they had to disconnect the battery.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Right now I disconnected the battery as I don’t want my battery to be drained out.

(Only the clock in the top of the console and the radiostays on when the key is out)

Thanks

questions
what work was done under the hood ?
do you have an aftermarket amp/stereo ?
was the car ever in a front end accident ?

there is a radio fuse in the engine bay (the long fuse box near the battery). My guess is that there is some wire touching the + on the battery or some other wire around there touching something were there is all time power going to it.

solutions :
1 check under the hood were the + battery terminal is and see what is connected to it. See if there is some other wire chafed/scuffed and there is bare metal wire touching it around the fuse box or comming from the fuse box.
hint - turn the car off and key out (radio is still on and up loud enough to hear outside the car) and wiggle some wires to see the radio turns off. You might be able to find the suspect wire there. Also, you might get a spark and blow a fuse if a wire with all time power touches something it shouldn't (like any metal on the car)

2 check behind the radio center panel for the same (scuffed/bare wire touching something) <- not likely but worth a try if 1 fails

check it out and post back
