i registered here looking for some answers and advice for my 95' Calica ST. for those who recognize my name it is because i also own a 86' AE86 (corolla GT-S) and i have been a long term member of club4ag.
as my first post i'd like to ask why it seems so hard to do the 7A-GE hybrid set up. realy all you would need is a 4A-GE head, a Porsche 924/944 timming belt, head gasket kit, and a 4A-GE MAP ECU, although i hear you could use the 7A-FE ECU, you just would be able to rev to 7.5K. i also thought about a cheep motor swap. as i was reading the engine swap guide, i read the 3S-GE is a good N/A motor. would that drop right in? what things are to remember when trying to drop this motor in? i would like to stay N/A so 3S-GTE isn't realy for me... yet. |

It depends by which GE head u're going to use.....16V head should not be too difficult, you only need to check if the oil passages fit perfectly. GZE swap would be good to, just a bit more complicated due to the supercharger....the best should be 20V GE head but I heard that is going to be very difficult....take a look here:
