"I hate the way they portray us in the media.

"If you see a black family it says they are looting if you see a white family it says they are looking for food.

"And you know that it’s been 5 days because most of the people are black and even for me to complain … I would be a hypocrite because I would turn away from the TV because it’s too hard to watch. I’ve even been shopping before giving a donation and so right now I’m calling my business manager what is the biggest amount I can give.

"And just to imagine if I was down there, those are my people down there. So anybody out there who wants to help with the set up, the way that America is set up to help … The poor, the black people, the less well off as slow as possible. I mean, Red Cross is doing everything they can.

LOL! Kanye West is the most ignorant person alive. Hurricane Katrina and it's effect on the New Orleans area is simply the largest national disaster that the United States has ever dealt with. It is not solely decided by the president who is sent to help in these situations. Most of it is handled by FEMA. The Director of FEMA is the one that has made the mistakes if anyone has.
Does West realize the scope of this disaster? The hurricane was the size of Florida for God's sake. This simple-minded person cannot even begin to comprehend the resources that will be required for the relief efforts.
To say that the media portrays blacks in a negative way is dumb. If you see someone coming out of a store with a cart full of electronics when there isn't even any electricity they are going to be labeled as looters. Bags of shoes and clothes are not essential to survival either. It's not the media's fault that they are out there in the middle of the day knowingly robbing stores while cameras catch their every move. New Orleans has a very high African American population which, whether he wants to believe or not, is for the most part poverty stricken. Of course they'll be out there looting. It's like Christmas in the Fukcing ghetto.
And before anyone starts in about how they censored his comments from the West coast Re-broadcast and how it's a violation of his free speech (large debate on a local radio station). You have to think about the networks liability. Free speech doesn't even apply to network television. The networks owners and sponsors have final say over what is allowed to be aired.

People who hate bush dont understand how hard it is to be a president and make the decesions he makes. the debt is high because of the war cost and now its gonna go up more to help out the people from katrina. the government has also given money to other country disaters and other misc stuff that has happned here. Just because it wasnt on the news doesnt mean its not happening. what about the sick ppl raping and beating kids during this. you wanna blame bush for them doing that too? give me a freggin break, if you wanna help out then go there and lend a hand. stop bashing bush and bash yourself for not lending a hand before any of this happened. do you donate your time to help someone else out, if we all helped each other out and stop being mean to others, we actually might be a nice nation. why do you think we have debts in our states and as a country because everyone wants the government to handle it, why wait for the government, you can help out anytime you want but do you?

You know what, maybe what oprah said wasn't the smartest thing in the world. But at least she gave A LOT of ****in' money to the relief effort. You're on here preaching about how people should do something more than give money, I wanna see you fly to New Orleans and fish someone out yourself. HOw about you put up your house as a shelter to the victims. I would be surprised if you even did so much as to volunteer at the shelters they set up, or volunteer some of YOUR time to the relief effort. I'm not saying I've done anything either, but don't come across those who ARE doing more than your lazy ass and insulting them. Oprah may not have chosen the right words, but AT LEAST shes more a part of the relief effort than someone who likes to come in on forums and tell EVERYBODY ELSE exactly how they're not doing ****, or those who are doing something, how they're not doing enough because they can't put them up, or don't. Alright, don't listen to the words but look at the actions.

As for Bush Sr. and that whole issue, who knows, it could go on as publicity or simply maybe he does give a damn. I don't really care what reasons they're doing it for, so long as they are doing it. You really think most of these celebrities would be giving money if there wasn't at least publicity, or rather criticism for not doing anything. DO you really think Bush Sr. or Jr. or even Clinton for that matter, if they weren't in, or formerly in the positions they are or were in, would be a part of this relief effort. It doesn't matter whether they care, because no one will ever know if they truly care except God and themselves. All that matters is that they're doing something.

Unfortunately, I have no money to donate, but I do when I can. Unfortunately, a series of events has happened in my life to where I have to take a lot of time to straighten my life out. So no, I haven't helped, but don't come in here and bash on ANYONE who has done something, especially if you yourself have done nothing.

Thats my two cents, if you don't like it keep it to yourself, because thats all I'm saying on this topic.

EDIT: For those who can't help for their own reasons, simple lack of resources or whatever, there is still a way to help the victims... Pray. Pray to God for them. A lot of you are against the idea of God or don't believe he exists, and thats fine. I'm not here to force religion or belief on you. But do it for them. Do it for the people there who do believe and need prayers and need something to believe in because as of now, thats all they have is belief. These people have lost everything in their life, all they have is God. Right now, your prayers are not about your beliefs or your oppositions, its about your fellow man and woman who need them, and need to believe because w/o belief in God for them, they have nothing left to live for...
