It's five years in prison for assaulting a police officer -- those dogs carry badges too, and truth be told, spend at least as much time training as their human counterparts.
It used to be killing a police dog was unprosecutable, except maybe as an animal cruelty case. It's an odd reflection of PETA's view that animals should be regarded as equals, considering police tend to be among the most conservative groups politically. |
