just want to know if there are good engine swaps and staying auto (ya i know...but i cant afford tranny swap+engine...due to university)

I know that the GT/GT-S tranny cant handle lot of power like a 3rd gen 3s but would it handle something like a 4AGE, 3SGE or 2nd gen 3s or the tranny will still grind? if not...what is the limit it can takes?...it is physically doable to connect the auto GT tranny to those engines anyway?

I read on this board that the tranny would handle a 3s with a standalone ECU (i guess it was 2nd gen that the person was talking about)..if it's true what would be the best ECU option?

TIA

the auto gt tranny should bolt to a 3s motor. problem is, the ecu for the 3s is for manual cars, so you would have to figure out some way to rig up 2 ecus running in the car so that the tranny knows when to shift into overdrive and stuff like that. aka a pain in the ass.

putting an auto tranny on will make your car a lot slower. there was one 5th gen guy that did it in his 3s swap, and ran something like a high 15sec. nomally most swaps are good for low 14s.... so thats a big difference rigth there.

getting a stand alone ecu is an expensive thing, and would cost you more then converting the car to manual.

Why wouldn't the 5s ecu work? Wouldn't it be able to do everything that it already does, just with the 3s engine?
