What do you guys think of the concept of rear wheel steering on a front wheel drive car? Im not talking about 4-wheel steering. only the rear wheels. The front wheels would be locked. There is a car out there that does it. The Peugot 20cup. It only has one wheel in the back though, kinda looks like a motorcycle. Supposedly it handles really well. I know how forklifts handle, I used to drive them. But surley there is a way to do it where it handles really good and is not dangerous at high speeds. The idea has completley fascinated me. I want to try it. I think first I'll try building a go-kart with the set up. I dont know, maybe I'm wasting my fuc*ing time, but to me it makes more sense to have the rear wheels steer on a fwd car. It would have a better weight distribution and it would take alot of the work off the front tires. Maybe even having the car with a rear engine setup where the front wheels pull and the rear wheels steer. Just want to hear other peoples opinions good or bad. Maybe even some ideas that would help me.

QUOTE(forkee @ Sep 28, 2005 - 5:43 PM) oh!! do it like those moster trucks!!! when u turn the front wheels one direction the back tires turn the opposite to decrease ur turning radius. lol you mean 4ws like some other Japanese cars have? QUOTE(urbandork @ Sep 28, 2005 - 5:50 PM) it was my understanding that the rear wheel steering shuts down at hi speeds on the vehicles that have it. Shuts down? Like I know when I had my 95 Prelude I looked into converting it to a 4ws and there was a way the electronic 4ws would shut down at over 55 I believe because it made the car more stable on the highway (you don't really want all for wheels moving just to change a lane). But then you also have the new GMC 4 wheel steering truck that has it on all the time, but is mostly just for low-speed turning into like parking spaces and stuff. In all honesty though, I do think it would be a waste of time and money, there's a lot cooler things you could do to the car for what it would take to make it rear wheel or 4 wheel steering. -------------------- 1999 Celica GT
