Ok, I tried to get some price quotes, I called MR Tire, they said id have to bring it in for them to look at. He called me back and said it would be $378 to replace it, the part is only $36.. How hard is it to replace, im good with working on cars, I just havnt replaced barings at all though. Has any one done it? or know how or could give me any info.

Alright.. well i got most of it done. I bought just the wheel baring and seal. I poped off the hub, then spent well about hour an half trying to get it out, using all the tools i had and could think of to do it. Lucky I called a mechanice that my brother is friends with and ran over there at 9 last night. He used basicaly every tool he had and got the barring out and the new one in. Took him about an hour. I got everything back togeather but! the king nut for the rack & pinion striped.. so once i get a new nut should be done.
If it works perfectly, I just saved my self $300 and got two new tools. Yeah paid $40 for the barring and seal, then $20 for breaker bar and socket, then $30 for the baring to be replaced. wish me luck. |
