spacers or wider wheels, trying to decide Options

im trying to figure out what would push my rims out more so that they are flush with the body. i think my current rims are 40offset 7in wide. if i get a 25mm spacer, that will push them out about 1 inch.

now my other option is to get 17x8s with 35 offset. i used the offset calculator, and it tells me that the differece between the new rims and my old ones would only be 18mm

so, am i missing something here? the spacer would push the wheels out the most, right?

you see, what im really trying to do is to talk myself out of buying the oz superlaggeras that i really want..lol
the spacers cost about 250 shipped while the new rims will be 1500 or so. so if the spacers do the same thing i want, then im tempted to go that way... who knows. its good to know that i will get a wider stance from the spacers, somthing i didnt really realize before.

I say dollar up. Everytime I have tried to cut a corner with my car I have been mad at myself later. Everytime I spent the money I have been pleased. With as much as we have invested now, I am sure we are both going to be keeping these babies for awhile....
