Cold Air Intakes, Do they work? Options

Hey Guys, thanks for all the great responses about turboing my Celica...now I have another question...

-do cold air intakes really help performance?...or do they just sound cool? (No pun intended:))...

-is it worth the price?...and where do you get them??

- - -i found one on ebay, w/a k&n filter for $113.00...

-also how is the hp increase?...I assume the engine likes these guys b/c it gets more air to it??

They do help, but not as much as people think. It sounds cooler more than it helps. It gives a bit of better responce, and when its cold out, it somewhat feels like quicker accel. but prolly more my imagination.

Now for $120 i wouldnt, but I paid umm $30 for a CAI.. I think thats well worth it. I got a 92-95 civic intake. It dosnt look as good as some but does the job. I ran it through the orig path into the fender for better cold air.

A Short ram intake, IMHO not worth it at all, just sucking in hot air.

Stock intakes are designed for the engine, if the engine is stock, it wont do much. If you have mods it will help, but again not much.

But mine sounds well like a vacum everytime i start it, and when its cold.. its awsome.. Il try an get a vid clip next time i remember.
