Cold Air Intakes, Do they work? Options

Hey Guys, thanks for all the great responses about turboing my Celica...now I have another question...

-do cold air intakes really help performance?...or do they just sound cool? (No pun intended:))...

-is it worth the price?...and where do you get them??

- - -i found one on ebay, w/a k&n filter for $113.00...

-also how is the hp increase?...I assume the engine likes these guys b/c it gets more air to it??

dont have any pictures now... i stuck the intake right infront of the radiator and mounted it to the bar that runs behind the bumper about half way up from the bumper to the hood

now the piping is 2.5 inch and i ran it around the radiator, up underneath the battery, then there is a 90 degree bend and it comes up next to the battery and runs back over the starter motor to the intake manifold... from a top view it looks a lot like that ebay intake except it was fit to a 5s-fe.

ill get some pics for you soon. maybe within the week

performance wise i got a lot more throttle response, ive been saving a lot of gas, and the motor sounds a lot more like a motor

im sure i got more power. its noticable but i wouldnt say much more than 5 or 10 horses and maybe a skotch of torque? maybe.

the main thing about that intake is that you will always have the coldest air possible and it is being forced into the intake which helps a lot
