i was wondering what rpms you guys shift at, and what rpms you cruise at to get the best mpg and what mpg do you get. i get from 19-21 average, i dont always drive like a grandma though.

i dont get why you guys get so good gas mileage. is keeping the rpms as low as possible not the best way, ie 35mph in 5th at like 2300rpm?

[right][snapback]346739[/snapback][/right] actually im not sure and i could be wrong but i find that shifting at 3-3.5k rpm is optimal in terms of fuel economy. just from my experience and understanding, the engine works harder to gain speed with a higher gear on a lower speed that was meant for a lower gear. im not sure if im explaining it right and not sure if this applies to NA motors, but this is how my 3S is. if i dont wunna go into boost, i keep it cruising/shift anywhere from 3-3.5k rpm and i wont burn so much gas. its all about speed, the right gear for that speed, and load on the car. i dunno...i could be wrong...lol ![]() bboy -------------------- ![]() ..(formerly daily driven) 3S-GTE powered celica currently set @ 12psi.. |
