ok...before anybody says anything i already searched and didnt quite find what Im looking for.
What i wanted to know is, how did the guys at burien toyota get their 5sfe motor to run at an everyday 14psi. Im going to go through with turboing my 5sfe, buying parts slowly here and there, but Im reading on and on, and I wanted to know if theres any way to get a bigger turbo, even if it means upgrading internals. What do I have to do to get the absolute most out of my 5sfe. Also I dont want to swap to a 3sgte, and for pressure, and all others, did the bigger injectors really make a difference in power(which ones)?? |

It depends on what you want out of your modifications. If you have modest goals of maybe 160-180 horsepower then you guys would fare well by building a good reliable turbo setup on a very well kept and maintained 5SFE. (search and learn from presure2's posts.) If you want a motor with more potential and RELIABLE power then the 3SGTE is you're best route, period. This is not to say that you couldn't run a turbocharged 5SFE for a long time either because you most certainly could if its tuned right But the 3SGTE is built to meet the requirements of high-horsepower tunings where the 5SFE is meant to get you from point A to point B everyday reliably without the strain of a turbo.
Also, neither is going to be cheap.....if you're considering doing a turbo setup and all your posts in the Forced Induction forum read "looking for Cheap this" and "Cheap that"....please realize that if you want a good setup you need to spend the money for good parts that will work well and last. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
