Today after the socal mini meet i went up the 405 to meet up a few homies. With my g/f tired i decided to head home for some r&r. On the way home, traveling east on the 10, my engine when by by. I was only going like 65 and I was with in my boost limits but something gave. Engine changed noise and power droped.

I drove home from western exit to calstate la jsut going slow. Any applied power cause a knocking noise.

getting off the freeway it souned like it was running on either 2 or 3 cylinders. So probably blew a rod, colapsed a piston, or blew some rings. Either way im F****** up the butt now. Im just glad i was able to limp home.

So soon i might actually have my trubo set up for sale. Cus if i rebuild the 5s im not truboing it. And if i swamp for a red top im not guna need the trubo.

What do u guys think rebuild the 5s? If so what kind a pistons and connecting rods should i get. Compression wise and company wise, where can i find them. What else do i want

Should i do a BEAMS swamp? if so what tranny should i use?

Should i d a 3sgte?

1998-99 5sfes came with a metal headgasket.

before you go out and buy anything, make sure that its the only thing that is damaged. normally when your headgasket goes, you should be able to tell by looking at your oil and coolant. if anything looks like coffee with milk, then that means it is a headgasket issue.

remember a headgasket isint the only thing that can cause low compression. you could have busted your ringlands. pour some oil through the sparkplug holes into the 2 affected cylinders and see if your compression numbers go up or not.

then take off your oil pan and look for any signs of metal shavings or anything. you can also cut open your oil filter to see if three is any metal in there too.
