i had my car lowered four weeks ago. i am driving responsibly. but i was leaving work one day turning onto the main street in front of work, and my right front axel popped out of the transmission.(this is two weeks after i'm lowered). well this is the second time in a year that the axel has popped out. so i took it to the garage to get it fixed. the guy said he put the new axels in and brand new torque mounts for the tranny, but when he drove it to test it out. the left axel popped out on him. my question is this: does lowering the car have anything to do with this. also could it be the axel housings inside the tranny? (guess thats what they are called). help i haven't had my car for two weeks, and i am going insane! HELP ME 6GC!!!

Sounds to me like your problem might not just be the fact that you lowered it. Lowering may have added to the problem, but something else is tearing those axels out of your transmission. I would really check everything closely for yourself and/or take it to a reputable shop.
Also, did you check to make sure that the right axels are being used? I don't mean to belittle anybody's intellegence, but they could rip out if its too short an axel installed by accident. My car is extremely low on Tein coilovers and I only have slight popping, so for your axel to rip out by lowering it a little over an inch makes me think it might be something directly related to the fitment of the axel. Keep us posted, I'd like to know what caused this to happen on you. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
