I know this has been asked before and I have already searched forums for couple of hours.
And I know that this has been brought up many times and is not for everyone, but please bare with me, and please help What do I have to do to remove my EGR system? 1.) I know that many people say not to remove it because of emissions I don't have to pass emissions. 2.) it has been said that the EGR system has no affect on performance at WOT I have read that on many technical websites and books involving the EGR system and 85-90% of what I have read says that there is no loss in performance because the engines computer advances the timing and A/F curves to make up for this difference- So, 2.a.if there were no EGR system to make up for wouldn't that extra HP be a gain, a very small one but none the lass again 2.b.If when the computer senses the EGR valve open the computer advances timing then the addition of more timing is the opposite of what I want with boost. 3.) The computer will throw a code 3.a.If I remove all components then the computer will not sense whaen the EGR is open and/or active- and basically think it is not on 3.b.also I have a SAFC-II and cannot control the EGR and it will therefore be an uncontrolled variable when adjusting A/F.--I also plan on getting the e-manage Ultimate soon and will have the same problem as the SAFC-II on the A/F as well as on the timing adjustments since neither has any EGR correction to counter-act the factory ECU's EGR corrections 4.) that still isn't reason enough I want more room under the hood as long as just an overall cleaner look, I have already done alot of mods and replaced ALOT of the stock parts for aftermarket parts so even if I were worried about passing emission(which I'm not) I wouldn't pass anyway If anything I said is incorrect please correct me.... So with that said can you guys help me? I already have the intake manifold off(being P&P and Powder coated). I know to remove the EGR valve itself, the tube that it goes to it, as well as the vacuum modulator, vacuum line, A vacuum switch(I don't know the name of this part), and plug vacuum ports on throttle body What I don't know yet, do I have to remove the charcoal canister? can I just plug the tube that used to go into the EGR valve? what other things that I did not mention that I have to do? -------------------- If anyone is missing NASCAR and it's not on Speed Channel, take a fistful of Skittles, throw them in the toilet and hit the flush handle. Instant NASCAR!!!

egr can be removed or deactivated without any effects on performance or lifespan or whatever... it is a device only used for better/less emission!
QUOTE Still don't know if the Charcoal canister can be removed? that doesn't have anything to do with egr! it is part of the fuel system and used for filtering fuel gases from the tank! so better not remove that ![]() |
