Ok so Im going snowboarding for the 1st time this Friday. Im scared! Im going with Jason and he hasnt been for 2 years so he should be pretty close to where i am. I wanna go on the chairlifts that day so i need some pointers on how to get off! i dont wanna fall (i know it will happen)
And what do i need gear wise? Im renting board and boots - though I want my own but no use in buying it before i try it! I already have a Helly Hanson Jacket and a pimp snow hat! ;-) Im going to buy Pants Goggles Gloves Anything else? -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

Alright, 12 years boarding, only took a lesson after 5 years (oh yeah, big mistake).
1st tip, gettin off the lift. Sit on the end of the lift. If you are goofy, the right, normal - the left. 2ndt tip, take a 1 hour semi-private lesson. 3rd tip, wear vollyball kneepads under your ski pants (you look like less of a wuss/newbie with them under your ski pants). 4th tip, never go on a bunny hill, go in intermediate hills. You need to be on edges, if you are not on edge, you are on the flat and will catch an edge (this is not a maybe, you will catch an edge if you ride your board flat). 5th tip, don't panic. Your fear will cause you to lean back, this will cause your edge to stick hard and you will not be able to slide out the back end of your board. If you lean more forward, you can slide out the back end of the board allowing you to scrub off speed slowing down, so don't panic. Good luck, it's a blast. btw, Vallo- I don't snowboard because it is cool, it is not a fad, it is not about fasion. When you have cut fresh tracks on the Rubybowl at Blackcomb, you will understand. A powder day is better than sex. |

A powder day is better than sex. forgot, number 5 is a big tip. you will have the urge to lean back, and you will for awhile until you learn the hard way to keep weight more forward. just keep your nerves in check (harder than it sounds at first) and just flow, and youll be fine. ahhhhh fresh pow -------------------- ![]() I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. |
