Hi, just like the topic, which is easier for an engin swap a 4agze or a 3sgte? i havent really seen to many posts about the 4a-gze and i have even did a search on it and cant find anything.

What kind of car does the 4agze come out of and what years and is it easier to put in a ST than a 3sgte?
About how much would it cost to do the entire swap?

Thanks, Kyle

It really depends on how you do it, the 4AGZE *can* be a pretty simple swap. If you get the smaller 4AGE flywheel, and use your stock C52 tranny, (which has been done plenty of times in Corollas), then it will bolt right in with no modifications. The wiring is pretty standard, I can do it for you for $350 (same price as 3SGTE).

A front-mounted intercooler is require either way unless you want to run a hood scoop.

That said, the 4AGZE from the AE101 Levin (which is the one you want, don't waste your time with the MR2 one because it makes much less power), will cost about the same as a 2nd gen 3SGTE, or about $1500. Then you're going to need a FMIC and piping, which will run about $400, and you want around $500 for extras. That's about $2500. Then labor if you don't do it yourself ($900 at my shop), and that should do it. Less than $3500 installed.

If you decide to use the E58 tranny that comes with it, then you're going to need custom mounts and axles. Labor jumps up to $1200, and parts jump up around $500. So about $4300 installed.

At that point you're closing in on 3SGTE territory, which is around $5000 installed, usually. Again, that depends on which tranny you use, if you want the E153 then the price is going to jump up another $1000, at least.

The 4AGZE from the Levin makes about 170 hp, supercharged so there's no lag at all (not like the CT26 has much lag). The 2nd gen 3SGTE makes 225.

Hope that helps.
