![]() TOYOTA The Japanese have a bit of a weakness for mad badges. Hence, the current Toyota symbol that looks like a cowboy in a big hat, but is actually three elipses depicting the heart of the customer, the heart of the product, and the ever-expanding technological advancements and boundless opportunities that lie ahead. It says here. Another reason that was submitted to this website is that, in Japanese, 'Toyo' means an abundance of, and 'ta' is rice. I'm told that some Asian cultures believe that those blessed with an abundance of rice are blessed with great wealth. -------------------- Cruisin down the street in my Infiniti...always lookin for my next trip to Sin City

Well first, Toyoda was the guys name who started the company. Second, the 3 circles represent the relationship between company & car, driver & car, and driver & company.

QUOTE(Supersprynt @ Jan 12, 2006 - 12:16 PM) Well first, Toyoda was the guys name who started the company. Second, the 3 circles represent the relationship between company & car, driver & car, and driver & company. To expand further, Toyoda written in Kanji (豊田) means "abundant rice field" Toyoda was changed to Toyota in September 1936 following a contest for a new company logo. Toyota was chosen because it looked aesthetically superior and, when written in Katakana (トヨタ), it now used 8 brush strokes. Eight (八 pronounced "hachi") is a lucky number according to Japanese culture since the japanese character for eight represents growth. You may recognize "hachi" from "hachi roku (八六)" meaning 8 6 commonly used to describe the AE86 Corolla. -------------------- ![]() Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |
