I'm looking at purchasing some 16" wheels from a 7th gen Celica to go on my '97 GT w/ alloy wheels, and wanted to know if the 6th gen tires will fit.
I've read that it's a pretty easy swap (and looks good), but do I need to worry about having to buy new tires as well as the rims? Apparently my rims have begun to corrode inside and are causing one tire to leak air because it's not getting a good seal on the lip, and I recently purchased tires - about 5k miles ago and I'm not looking forward to needing to buy new ones along with the 7th gen rims. Anybody? I figure with this being such a common swap, there should be an article on the main site about this. ![]() -Wayne |

So both the GT (15") and GTS (16") rims will fit our 6 gens.
What's the standard tire sizes for those? I'm wondering if there's a tire size (width/aspect) difference in the stock wheels so the resulting speedo will be different. This post has been edited by Starcraftjunkie: Jan 15, 2006 - 2:25 AM |
