OK, While tearing the engine down I came acrossed something. While taking the rod caps off I noticed that the #1 and #4 caps where different then the #2 and #3. My question is should they be different, or did someone take my engine apart once and put it back together wrong?
On the connecting rods you have the little notches that the bears that allow them to seat. To my understanding those notches should be facing oppisite ends. They are on the #2-#3 rods. The #1-#4 rods they are facing each other. Is this something Toyota does or did someone put them in wrong? I can post pictures if I am not clear of my question. Thank you. Well the engine is back in... but went to start it.. and it would turn but not start.... So we looked at the distributor and it was off by 180 degrees... so we pulled the valve cover off and noticed that the timing was off by 12 degrees... I know we had it set when we were re assembling the engine.. so we aren't sure if the timing belt slipped.. or if it somehow got off before we dropped it in the car....
anyone have any hints or ideas.. please let me know I am also wondering about the temp sensor... when I got in the car... when the car was off, the Temp gauge pegged on H and so the fans cut on.... but its random... cuz like right now the car is off and its not doing that... so not sure if thats a mixed up wire or not. Thanks guys :-) -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207
