Hi all,
I just have a few general questions about the 3rd gen 3sge (non-beams) that came in the JDM celicas. 1. How "tunable" is this engine? IOW, how does it respond to aftermarket modification? What kind of hp numbers have been seen with this engine? 2. How much aftermarket support is there for this engine? 3. What is an average cost for this swap? Is it much more expensive for the BEAMS? 4. How would you compare this engine to something like the b18c1 (Integra GSR engine)? Thanks for your help. J. |

Check maikl's profile. He's bulding a 3sge. His is a Beams, but I think most parts are at least similar. I think you can really build these things. They use these motors a lot over seas. And with the upgraded verson in the new Lexus IS300 (I think), there will be parts for this thing. My advice, is just go with the Beams, because it will have more parts for it. But I know I would personal go with the regular 3sge, and just go from there. I can't name anything you can't get for it. You can build the bottem end using 3sgte parts. You can get cams made from Webcamshafts.com. They'll make springs and what not too. I don't think finding parts that will work on this motor will be hard, and I think it could hit 300hp or more. That's pretty much none streetable, but I bet you could do 250hp streetable.
