Heeeelllllppppp!!!!!!, I am currently trying to change the outer boot on the passenger side drive axle or cv joint. The chilton manual says to remove the inboard boot and joint (Which I did) then remove the dynamic dampner, which I can't figure out how to get off for the life of me!! It is a metal cylinder with rubber inside it.
-Has anyone ever removed this dampner before... The toyota dealer didn't even know how to get it off!!!! -But he did tell me the outboard cv joint should pound off, so I don't have to remove the dampner.... *However I tried this on the other axle and it didn't want to pound off????? Any ideas on how to do this? Is there a clip on the other side holding it on that I can't see????? This is on a 94 2.2 liter 5 speed celica.... THanks BrandonA. |

Just to let you guys know the dynamic dampener is merely pressed on and held in place by the rubber seal. If one were to spray WD-40 underneath the seal. it should slide off easily!!!! I tried pounding off the outside c.v. joint for about an hour with a 3 pound hammer. *It did not budge* ANd there was no way to release the clip holding it on, I couldn't get to it. So to save someone else the grief I went through if you can't get the outer cv joint off just remove the inner joint and the dynamic dampener!!!!!Thanks for the help!!!Guys....
