alright i am gonna ask a random question right now, but bear with the fact that i don't own a celica, my friend does and she wants to get a bypass valve for the CAI. the only thing is i don't know what size piping the intake piping is to get the bypass valve. So my question is what is the size of the piping for the 1.8L engine in the 97 celicas?

Unless she has an aftermarket CAI that draws from the bottom of the car( i.e. in front of the wheel well or right behind the center opening in the bumper) and she will be driving in an area like Washington state where there is a chance of getting the intake in some water then there is no use. If she has that and will be driving in those conditions then you would need to measure her intake tubing. Not all aftermarket intakes are standard. Some range from 2.5 in to 3 in. I personally found that with my 7AFE 1.8L that I didn't need it and that it was opening even when the weather was dry. Hope that helps.
