OK, While tearing the engine down I came acrossed something. While taking the rod caps off I noticed that the #1 and #4 caps where different then the #2 and #3. My question is should they be different, or did someone take my engine apart once and put it back together wrong?
On the connecting rods you have the little notches that the bears that allow them to seat. To my understanding those notches should be facing oppisite ends. They are on the #2-#3 rods. The #1-#4 rods they are facing each other. Is this something Toyota does or did someone put them in wrong? I can post pictures if I am not clear of my question. Thank you. Heres one thing, Do not use the book as a guide but a reference only. You might want to check that you got the 2 cams right when you set them back in the head. Its a little different from the two-true-cam models. Cause they actually run off of each other to do this and that by gear and not timing belt. Another thing you might want to look at is if the distrubotor was put back in correctly. You might have put it back in reverse such as the rotor pointing to the spark plug 1 when you took it off and then you put it back on at sparkplug 4 instead which screws the whole ignition set up.
