95celica st looking for higher performance, any solution except the engine swap Options

hi everybody, i am a new driver and i got my 95 celica st half year ago, i am wondering what kind of stuffs i can do in order to receive better performance on my car?
as i know, the st model have 98hp only. Is it correct?
are there any method to raise the hp up to arround150?
please give me any suggestions that work and list me the price if possible.

Yes, but not much. Many people will disagree with me when I say this, but I don't think the cost for a full custom exhaust justifies a few extra HP. IMO, the only time it's worth it to have an exhaust system is when you're turboed or swapped.

You're right, there are people that won't agree with you. I don't like the thought that you have to have a turbo to do anything good. I'm just a NA guy. The 5sfe and 7afe aren't good NA motors, but they will pick up a couple hp from exhaust. If every little hp you can get matters to you, exhaust isn't a bad idea.

I'm not saying the exhaust doesn't help. I'm just saying money is better spent elsewhere. Why spend $400 for a header, 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust, hi-flow cat and a brand name muffler just to pick up a few lousy horsepower and make a lot more noise?

On some cars you can pick up more. I've only spent probably $200 total on my exhaust, and I've picked up a little little gain. I'm talking header and exhaust though. Do it yourself is the best. I do agree that some cars just aren't worth it, but sometimes you have to make due with what you have. I would rather have a better platform for building, but the Celica is all I have to work with for now. A few hp can be up to 15hp total or more if you get the right equipment on the right motor. I seen on Speedvision, a Viper that picked up a ton just from a cat back. I tend to stick with the idea that older cars weren't build as well. But the fact is, newer cars have more emissions to ditch. I don't know which would pick up more, but it just depends on the engine.
