Hi, has anyone taken out the A/C unit and replaced it with an alternator? If so how difficult was this job and how much did it cost?

What gauge wire are you running for your power?

Doesnt sound as though you need a second alternator. Heavy battery? Maybe change it to an optima or something.

Personally I HATE optima batteries, with the system I used to have I would go through them in 9-11 months.
I then switched to stinger batteries(one now) and it made a BIG difference, Also when I had the Optima batteries I had to replace the alternator as often as the batteries.
If you need that much more power I recommend a stinger battery especially if your amps are unregulated(more voltage=more watts) because with the stinger battery with my car off it still had a 15.?? float charge still.

I was running (2)RF T8002BD amps(power hungry) to (2)15's wired for 2-Ohm bridged on each amp with 1/0g wire (1)Stinger DB1000 Battery and (1) batcap 400 with a OEM replacement alternator at the time, and with everything on (screen,ps2,neons in hacth,A/c,ect..) my lights wouldn't even dim-And that is was hitting a USAC db'ed 152.4
